Accept Mid-Year Budget Revision - YES
I voted to approve our mid-year budget revision, an annual exercise where we adjust our budget for the year to account for any unexpected expenses or revenues that may have occurred.
This vote also included a policy decision: what do with about $3 million in unallocated surplus funds. I voted to support the Finance Committee's decision to reinvest that money toward projects and needs we had already identified, including making an additional $263,000 payment toward reducing our pension debt; transferring $1,000,000 to the fund that provides for needs like computers, cybersecurity upgrades, and Town vehicles; allocating $250,000 as an additional buffer against potential future insurance claims; and earmarking $1.5 million for various capital projects already on our schedule (i.e. road repaving and sewer line repair).
