I voted to authorize the Public Works Director to execute and record the Notice of Completion for the Corte Madera Town Hall Project—officially accepting our new Town Hall as complete! This is a hugely exciting milestone for our community; the project, which began with an extensive public process in 2018, involved the demolition of the old Town Hall and the construction of a new all-electric facility. The new Town Hall is both Zero Net Energy and Zero Net Carbon — the first public facility of its kind in Marin County — and will serve as a vital community and civic space for the next 75 to 100 years. Though the project scope and budget evolved over time due to unexpected site conditions — including the discovery that a portion of the old building lacked a foundation — the final cost represents a fair investment in Corte Madera’s future. The new Town Hall was completed in May 2024, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on July 2, 2024, to celebrate this milestone with the community. When it comes to prioritizing both our people and our planet, I couldn't be more proud to see Corte Madera walking the walk!
