I voted to approve updates to Corte Madera’s 2024–2025 budget to make sure we’re using Town funds responsibly and meeting the needs of our community. These updates include final salary agreements for staff, corrected sales tax estimates, and plans for how to use extra money left over from last year’s budget.
We’re putting $3.3 million of that extra money toward important projects. This includes $600k for a new ambulance and emergency gear, $1 million for stormwater improvements and other infrastructure work, $400k for future park upgrades, and $100k to help cover long-term health care costs for retired staff. We’re also adjusting staff salaries based on finalized labor agreements.
Another key change is increasing the amount of money we keep in our savings (or reserves) for emergencies—from 20% to 25% of our yearly expenses. This helps protect the town’s finances in case of unexpected challenges. By approving these updates, we’re making smart investments in public safety, infrastructure, and long-term planning, while keeping Corte Madera on solid financial ground.
