Approve Sewer District Budget for 2024-2025 - YES

I voted to approve Sanitary District No. 2's budget for 2024-2025, which ensures the continuation of essential sanitary services while addressing our infrastructure needs. This decision reflects our confidence in the budget’s alignment with the district's long-term goals and the community's needs.

The approved budget includes $12.7 million in expenditures, covering operating expenses, debt service, and capital projects. Notably, we have allocated $4.9 million for capital improvements, which are essential for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our sewer infrastructure. These projects, such as the Paradise Pump Rehabilitation and various sewer system upgrades, are critical for preventing system failures and ensuring reliable service for our residents.

One important fiscal change in this year’s budget is the increase in sewer district user charges, which had not been raised since the 2009-2010 fiscal year. This increase, along with anticipated revenue from property taxes, will help fund the necessary capital projects and maintain our financial stability. The budget also includes measures to ensure transparency and accountability, such as a clear enumeration of the reserve fund.

This budget is a crucial part of our ongoing efforts to manage the district’s resources effectively and sustainably. By approving this budget, we are taking a responsible approach to governance, ensuring that our sanitary infrastructure meets the community’s current and future needs while also safeguarding our fiscal health.
