Award 5% Raise to Public Works Director - YES

Corte Madera is unique among many Marin cities in that we own and maintain our own sewer system, and that means in addition to managing normal public works activities like roadwork and maintenance, our Public Works Director also does double-duty as the manager of our sanitary district.

As a general policy, we try to pay employees at the median for the county, to ensure we are staying competitive while being prudent with taxpayer funds. But in light of the fact that his unique role includes responsibilities normally taken on by separate, paid public employees in other jurisdictions, I voted to increase the salary of our Public Works Director, RJ, by 5%. In addition to recognizing his hard work and excellent performance, this raise recognizes the additional duties he takes on that his peers do not.
