Call For Sewer Rate Hearing - YES
As part of the Sanitary Sewer Master Plan initiative, a comprehensive rate study analysis was conducted to forecast our infrastructure needs over the next 10 years. This included development of different possible funding options, including rate increases and debt issuance. The last annual sewer unit charge was set on June 1, 2010. Since then sewer rates have not increased in 14 years. After much study and discussion, the Town's Finance Committee recommended a hybrid financing scenario, combining bond issuance with rate increases, in order to keep rates lower than they might otherwise need to be. In the coming weeks, we will be mailing public notices to inform residents of a hearing to discuss the proposed rate increase, giving our community ample opportunity voice any questions or concerns they may have, and letting residents know about their right to lodge a formal objection to the proposed rate increase, if they wish.
