This one just common sense. It's no secret that climate change is accelerating, and the effects are becoming more dire, deadly, and expensive with each passing year. Unfortunately, Corte Madera is almost uniquely vulnerable to climate change, with the vast majority of the community lying in either a flood zone or a fire hazard zone.
In light of these challenging circumstances, we recognized obvious reality by passing a resolution declaring a climate emergency, which will help streamline and focus the Town's response. The coming decades will see an all-hands effort to protect local homes, businesses, and infrastructure from flooding and wildfire, and this declaration lays the groundwork for that response.
