This was a bit of routine housekeeping that had been overlooked in years prior. During labor negotiations related to the hiring of Adam Wolff as our new Town Manager, then-Mayor Fred Casissa noticed that the Town hadn't updated the job description for our Town Manager role since 1998—more than 20 years!
Needless to say, the nature of the job has changed radically during that timeframe (computers, anyone?), and maintaining up-to-date job descriptions for all roles is considered a best practice for any business or agency. The Town Attorney and our HR staff worked to modernize the job description, and I was happy to vote for its adoption, effective immediately.
